2021 Jeep Gladiator Details: New Powertrain and Possible Trims?

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator successfully took the Jeep Wrangler and turned it into a truck. Auto publications and review outlets heaped praise on it over and over again. However, rumors of the 2020 Gladiator getting a diesel engine proved false. However, those rumors were back for the 2021 Gladiator.

So then, will the 2021 Gladiator have a diesel engine option?

New Diesel Powertrain

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator will feature the turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 in addition to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 gas engine. The EcoDiesel puts out 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque and is paired with the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic. The EcoDiesel also features Engine Stop-Start technology, which helps boost fuel efficiency by shutting of the engine when not in motion. The diesel engine has a max towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. New Trims Leaked?

The 2021 Gladiator is expected to get two new trims: Willys and 80th Anniversary Edition. The Willys would reportedly feature a Trac-Lok limited slip rear differential, 17-inch black wheels and mud-terrain tires, Rubicon cab rock rails, special cosmetic changes, and the Technology and Convenience packages. The 80th Anniversary Edition would get a 8.4-touchscreen, remote start, proximity keyless entry, special cosmetic changes, and 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. The addition of these trims would bring the total number of trims on offer to nine. Here are the official trims that have already by announced: Sport, Sport S, Altitude, Overland, Rubicon, Mojave, and North Edition.
