Jeep recently showcased the updated all-electric concept of the flagship Wrangler SUV called the Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept, as the iconic American automaker pivots from gas-guzzling SUVs to zero-emission EVs. Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept 0-60 MPH Time

The redesigned, electric Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept was showcased alongside other concepts, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe Concept, during this year’s Easter Jeep® Safari – a nine-day off-roading event held in Moab, UT. The aptly named concept EV SUV is based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 but is much more capable than the Rubicon or even the Wrangler Magneto 1.0 Concept showcased last year.

Jeep says the updated Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept can launch from 0-60 mph in just 2 seconds. That’s significantly faster than last year’s Wrangler Magneto 1.0 Concept’s 6.8 seconds and more in line with Tesla’s performance-oriented Plaid models.

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept Performance

Jeep says the insane acceleration time of the SUV is thanks to its more upgraded propulsion system, which now has 600 amps of peak amperage – more than double that of the Wrangler Magento 1.0 Concept. The Magento 2.0 Concept also employs a new electric powertrain calibration system which Jeep referred to as “electronic nitrous oxide,” that maintains the peak amperage for up to 10 seconds and helps boost the 0-60 mph time.

To achieve its insane acceleration and climb up rocks and boulders with ease, the Magneto 2.0 Concept generates 625 horsepower and sends 850 foot-pounds of torque to the wheels – more than triple the torque output of last year’s concept.

What’s also unique about the Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept EV is that it comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, something we don’t usually see in EVs. Jeep says that Magneto’s e–transmission offers the best of both, the best characteristics of an automatic transmission with the direct-drive feel of a manual transmission, making it ideal for off-roading.

Meanwhile, Jeep hasn’t revealed the launch date or other details of the Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept since it is still a concept vehicle and is not for sale to customers. However, the Magento 2.0 Concept seems like a massive step in Jeep’s electrification plans, and who knows, Jeep might surprise us by launching an all-electric Wrangler model in the coming years!
