Guide to Jump Starting Another Car

Drivers can expect years of performance with a properly maintained vehicle. Unfortunately, from time to time, it will be necessary to replace worn-out parts on your vehicle. The car battery is no exception to this guideline, but sometimes the car battery may be low from leaving the lights on for an extended period of time.

Please follow these safety guidelines to jump your car battery from another vehicle:

If possible, positioned the cars to face each other around 18 inches. Cut off the engines and put in the park for automatics or neutral for manual transmissions. Locate the positive and negative terminals of the batteries. Connect the positive cable of the dead battery with the positive jumper cable. Then connect the proper cable to the good battery. Then attach the negative jumper cable to the proper parts. Crank the engine of the good battery, and allow the car to run for a couple minutes. Now crank the engine of the dead battery which you may need to do a few times. Should this not work after a few tries, there may be another internal issue with the vehicle.
